The Chogoria route has long been considered the most picturesque, dramatic, and varying route,its the most beautiful of the access routes to Point Lenana. Climbing mount Kenya through Naro-Moru and Chogoria provides an exemplary climbing adventure that climbers live to remember.

Naromoru-route

Day 1: Nairobi/Chogoria: Jadi Safaris’s Mountain guide and Staff will pick up the clients in the Nairobi hotel in the morning, a short safari briefing will be conducted then the clients depart Nairobi by road for Chogoria town. Arriving in time for Lunch and afternoon leisure walk in the town to acclimatize. Dinner and overnight at Chogoria Budget hotel

Day 2: Chogoria/Meru Mount Kenya Bandas – 4hrs, 16km walk, 950m ascent
After morning breakfast, board 4×4 jeep vehicle to the forest clearance, 16km from where the trekking starts. You will trek for another16km through the forest along the dirt and sometimes very muddy road for 4hours to reach Meru Mount Kenya Bandas at 2950m. Dinner and overnight at Meru Mount Kenya Bandas

Day 3: Meru Mount Kenya Bandas – Road Head Camp, 3hrs, 9km, 350m ascent
After morning breakfast,, proceed uphill on the mountain track through giant heather and forest up to Chogoria road head from where the path drops to cross a stream then follows the broad ridge to the east of the gorges valley to reach Road Head Camp taking approximately 3-4hours. Overnight at Road Head Camp at 3300m.

Day 4: Road Head/Mintos Hut – 4 hrs, 12km
After morning breakfast follow the track through giant heather and forest up to Chogoria road head from where the path drops to cross a stream then follows the broad ridge to the east of the gorges valley to reach Mintos Hut, 4200m. Dinner and overnight at Mintos Hut

Day 5: Mintos/Point Lenana/MET Station – 11-12 hrs, 29km, 785m ascent/1985m descent
Early morning around 3am, begin the final ascent to lenana point, continue with the trekking above a flat green area at the head of the valley known as temple fields, arriving at point Lenana around 6:30am. After taking photographs, descend to Mackinders for breakfast and continue down to Met Station at 3000m for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: MET Station/Naro Moru/Nairobi – 3hrs, 9km, 400m descent
Sixth day with Jadi Safaris, after morning breakfast, descend through the rainforest which is 9km to Naro Moru Park Gate at 2,600m where you will connect with your transport back to Nairobi, and your Mount Kenya Adventure climbing ends with great memories from Jadi Safaris
